The city of Guadalajara has opened a new volcano looks alike soccer stadium that is veritably exploding with green features. The stadium designed by French architects Jean-Marie Massaud and Daniel Pouzet for the Chivas Guadalajara Football Club.
The eco friendly stadium features a volcano shape exterior that captures rainwater and processes it through wetlands for use in watering the pitch. All lighting uses energy efficient and the parking garage features natural ventilation.
The stadium, which hosted its first match at the end of July, consists of a white membrane, inorder to look like a cloud hovering atop the volcano and grassy sloped sides. It will have 45,000 seats and tucks away 8,500 parking spaces under the hillside, which will be open as public parkland when there’s no match on.

It seems their ability to create buildings that blend in with their surroundings is the ultimate test of their willingness to accept that we all are part of nature.
The stadium can be reach by bus and car, ingress and egress is carefully designed to avoid congestion as much as one can in urban Mexico. So, if you by any chance visit Guadalajara City, you must pay a visit to this stadium. As grass and trees grow in, it will be a little more appealing than it is now.
