Beautiful Boutique Hotel from Classic Century Fortress

Located off the southeast coast of Spain, the Cap Rocat boutique hotel has just found its place on the island of Mallorca. Once a 19th century military fortress, the classic structure was recently transformed by Spanish architect Antonio Obrador into a beautiful, luxury hotel.
Obrador led the charge to renovate the historic fort, where a carefully thought out design maintains the structure’s old world charm while adding functionality and the potential for profit. Set above the Mallorca’s Bay of Palma, this adult’s only hotel is a stunning example of historic adaptive reuse.
The former fortress is located on 88 acres of private land at the point of the Bay of Palma. The entire fortress has been converted into a boutique hotel with 24 luxury rooms and maintains 2 km of private coastline. Much of the detail of the fort was retained and restored in order to preserve the heritage of the place.

The former shooting pads were converted into suites, each with their own private patio and terraces, and the fortress former kitchen has been converted to a private kitchen exclusively for wine tastings and cooking lessons.
Open air terraces, patios and restaurants benefit from the mild Mediterranean climate and sea breezes. Food for the two restaurants is sourced from local and organic farms and recycling has been set at a high priority. The natural swimming pool is a refreshing salt water pool, eliminating the need for unhealthy chlorine to keep the water clean.
Moreover, the landscaping and vegetation for the fort was carefully planned to be regionally appropriate with little to no watering necessary. The hotel also highlights some of the original defensive strategies, like a drawbridge, bunkers, and trenches that you can explore on your holiday.
